This island girl grew up farming taro, going to the beach, and never saw a use for a traditional gym membership, but has now been with us for 18 months, her longest EVER! Find out what’s inspired her and why she keeps coming back for more.
Farmgirlfit Spokane
Mom to a freshman in College and freshman in High School!! Wife and Logistics Coordinator.
After moving to Spokane in December of 2013, and a few months of drinking, eating and packing some cushion (haha!!), Shannon Bucher introduced me to Farmgirlfit in March 2014. Best, blessed :) and longest gym membership (18 months) I’ve ever had! LOL!!
My kids! Especially my son! Four months after my family and I moved to Spokane, and just a couple weeks after I became a member at Farmgirlfit, my son (13 years old at the time) was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. It didn’t make sense! He was always active and in sports! I didn’t feed him “junk” and the story goes on… but it is what it is!! This is a lifelong disease for him and if I can stay active and continue to learn and make healthy choices - it’ll just show him that staying active and making healthy decisions is a normal lifestyle.
Seriously! I remember when 55#’s was so stinkin’ heavy! So I’m pretty happy with my commitment to FGF and my growing performance over the last year.
I’d have to say anything with the bar and squats would be my favorites.
RUNNING is for sure my least favorite!! Oh how I dislike running but I’m trying to beat my slow a** 10:46 mile time before the end of this month. AND Box Jumps (I’m scared for my shins…lol!)
I don’t have any funny story but Savhanna seems to choose the “right words” that get Jenn Robson and I laughing every time!
The GOOD and POSITIVE VIBES everyone brings to The Grind!
I mentally get lazy sometimes during The Grind, so when I hear one of the Coaches' “stern voices” calling my name to keep moving, that inspires me more than they know!
Besides work, and running around playing taxi for my son, my family and I try to be outdoors as much as we can!! We like to go on hikes – whether it’s 2 or 12 miles it always somehow turns into a race to get back to the car!!
I grew up farming taro, going to the beach or walking up a mountain to swim in fresh water ponds, so going to the gym or “trying” to stay fit never made sense to me because I always had some kind of workout! #islandgirl :)
Like I always tell people….I don’t care who’s playing…who wins but since we moved to WA, I like to say “GO COWBOYS”!! It gets Seahawks fans all riled up…LOL!!
Yes, don’t ever walk in late when Savhanna is coaching ‘cause she will let EVERYONE know you were LATE!! Haha!
